If you live in Cloverdale and your Canadian Dental Care Plan coverage is active, you may be looking for a dentist who accepts it as we do. We submit your claims to Sun Life for you, so the paperwork is not something you have to manage. Below is what the plan covers, what to bring to your first visit, and the details that trip people up most often.

Now Accepting New CDCP Patients

We are currently accepting new CDCP patients at our Cloverdale clinic. If your Canadian Dental Care Plan coverage is active and you need a dentist who takes it, we would be glad to see you. We bill Sun Life directly, which the plan requires, and we confirm what your coverage includes before treatment starts. You can receive CDCP dental care close to home at our neighbourhood clinic in Cloverdale.

Keeping Your Coverage Current

Your CDCP eligibility is reviewed each year, even after your initial application is approved. Eligibility is reviewed every year and depends on your household tax filings being up to date, so keeping those current is what keeps your coverage from lapsing between renewals. If you are unsure where your coverage stands, bring your questions to your appointment, and we can look at it together before we plan any treatment.

Dental Services Covered Under the Plan

We help you understand and use your CDCP coverage from your first phone call through to your final appointment.

  • Confirming your CDCP coverage and how it works alongside any other benefits
  • Planning covered preventive care such as exams, cleanings and X-rays
  • Fitting you in for urgent dental problems, including on Saturdays

Dr. Sugath Rajasekara brings more than twenty years of combined experience in Canada and Sri Lanka, and he takes the time to explain what your plan covers and what it does not.

Preauthorization and Direct Billing

Professional Dental Care in Action

Some treatments require preauthorization, which means Sun Life must review the proposed care before treatment begins. We prepare that submission on your behalf and let you know what comes back, so nothing gets started before we know where you stand.

Direct billing saves you from having to manage the claim yourself. The plan only accepts claims submitted by a participating provider, so this is not something a patient can send in themselves after the fact. As a CDCP-approved provider, we handle that submission for you, and you can use the government provider search to confirm our status before you book.

Serving Cloverdale and Nearby Communities

We are proud to serve Cloverdale, Surrey and the surrounding communities with CDCP-accepting care that is easy for local families to reach. Our clinic sits in the Bristol Centre at #115, 5738 175 Street, a short drive fromLangley and the wider Fraser Valley. The plan covers many common dental services, including checkups, cleanings, fillings and extractions. Cosmetic and orthodontic treatments such as whitening, veneers, implants and Invisalign are not covered. We are glad to talk through those options separately

Request Your Appointment Online

We know a midday dental visit does not always suit your schedule, so you can send us an appointment request through our online form whenever it works for you, and our team will call you back to confirm a time. New and existing patients are both welcome to request a visit this way. We are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and you are welcome to call us at 604-372-2861 if you would rather arrange things by phone.

Question Often Asked

The CDCP provider search on the Sun Life website lists nearby dentists who bill the plan directly, and you can also call clinics in your area and ask whether they take CDCP patients. Sun Life’s Contact Centre can help as well, at 1-888-888-8110. If Cloverdale works for you, we are accepting new CDCP patients now.

The plan uses frequency limits rather than a yearly maximum. Adults are generally covered for up to three exams in any twelve months, with a recall exam once in that period. These limits run on a rolling basis from your last appointment rather than by calendar year, and they are tracked across every participating clinic, so a cleaning somewhere else still counts toward yours. Additional visits can sometimes be approved through preauthorization.

Cleanings are covered in fifteen-minute scaling units rather than as a flat service, and adults are generally allowed four units in a twelve-month period, which works out to about an hour of scaling time. Depending on how much time your cleaning takes, that may cover one longer appointment or two shorter ones. If your gum health calls for more frequent cleanings, we can submit a preauthorization request with the clinical reasoning behind it.

Cosmetic and orthodontic work sits outside the plan, so whitening, veneers, implants and Invisalign are not covered. The plan also applies frequency limits to routine services, which means care beyond those limits needs preauthorization with clinical reasoning behind it. We go through all of this with you before any treatment is planned.
